Pipe fitting(Elbow, Tee, Reducer, and Cap)
I would like to share information about pipe fitting items based on my experience working in fitting vendor.
Firstly, There are four typical fitting items such as Elbow, Tee, Reducer, and Cap.
(1) Elbow looks like the human`s elbow.
90degree elbow and 45degree elbow are usually used and these elbows are divided into long radius and short radius elbow.
(2) There are two kinds of Tees such as equal tee and reducing tee.
For example, 20"(inch) x 20" is equal tee, on the contrary to this, 20" x 12" is reducing tee.
(3) There are two types of Reducers such as concentric reducer(con red) and eccentric reducer(ecc red).
If the plate raw material is used for producing big size reducer, lots of fitting makers will make it as conical type which looks like a cone.
(4) Cap is used for blocking end part of pipe.
Secondly, i want to share raw material information about fittings.
(1) Carbon steel (ASTM A234 WPB which is wrought steel pipe butt weld fitting, WPL6 which is wrought steel pipe low temperature fitting).
(2) Alloy steel (ASTM A234 WP11, WP22, WP5, WP9, etc)
(3) Stainless steel (ASTM A403 A304/304L, A316/A316L, etc)
(4) Duplex steel (ASTM A815 UNS S31803, S32750, etc)
Thirdly, allowance specifications of fittings are usually ASME B16.9 or MSS SP 75 depending on items.
Typically, carbon steel is the lowest price, adding that it is used the most.
Austenitic stainless steel is much stronger on corrosion with higher price than carbon steel.
Most of the fitting vendors issue mill test certificate(MTC) to guarantee their quality of manufactured goods.
The internationally well recognized fitting manufacturers are TK Bend(TK Corporation) and SK Bend in south korea.
Lastly, fitting items are usually made from pipe, plate, or forging.
